New 'high five selfie' craze puts people at risk of breaking their phones

Aworrying new selfie craze is sweeping social media - where people throw their phones in the air and high-five themselves while taking a picture of it.
North Carolina State University engineer Seth Schneider appeared to be the person who started the trend, sharing a photograph of himself doing it on Saturday.
The resulting photo has gathered over 172,000 retweets, and sparked swathes of copycats.
Taking these photographs leaves the selfie connoisseur at risk of phone breakage, especially if done over a hard floor.
Mr Schneider said he partly tried to take this picture because  he was "bored" during Hurricane Matthew.
He also said: "The art of Phone Fiving is self taught. You must look deep in your heart to learn".

The student didn't break his phone in the act of taking the phone-five selfie, but he did drop it on the floor twice.
Others have copied his picture idea, and it's become a trend:
Mr Schneider claimed to have taken the photograph without even using a camera timer - he pressed the camera button and threw the phone at the same time, while clapping.
The Telegraph asked him why he risked breaking his phone just for a funny picture.
He said: "I knew I wouldn't break it because it's not that far of a drop, I have an Otterbox and I caught it all but two times".
